Although Angulo and Post established the figure of the Master of Astorga in the first half of the 20th century, recent studies suggest that it was not a single artist, but rather a group of painters who were active between 1510 and 1530. They worked in the present-day provinces of León, Zamora, Palencia, and Valladolid (Fiz Fuertes, 2023).
