Joos van Cleve (c. 1485-1540) was a Flemish painter, likely born in the region of Cleves (Germany). His style merges the Flemish tradition, particularly influenced by Jan van Eyck, with elements of the Italian Renaissance, which he came to know through exposure to various works.
