Biography

Viñayo (1988) was the one who discovered documentation regarding the first rector from León of the Isidorian scriptorium, Santo Martino (1120–1203). According to Franco Mata (2010),“alongside the existence of an ivory workshop at San Isidoro, there was a scriptorium that was highly active from the 10th century onward, continuing for several more centuries.” Notable Isidorian manuscripts include the Beatus of Ferdinand I (National Library of Spain, Madrid), the Etymologies of Saint Isidore (El Escorial Library in Madrid, Spain), and the Sacramentary (British Library, London).
