Biography

Willem de Pannemaker (¿?-1581) was a tapestry maker active in Brussels during the 16th century. The success of his work meant that he carried out commissions for very prominent members of the main Renaissance courts. Little is known about his biography. The tapestries he made are scattered in museums and institutions. See, as an example, the following: Mercurio transforms Aglauros into stone (Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York) or Cécrope welcomes Mercurio (Museo Nacional del Prado, Madrid).
