Description

The chapel of San Andrés (Mahamud, Burgos) housed the remains of the Burgos nobleman Sancho Saiz de Carrillo and his wife Juana. The complex was decorated with paintings dating from around 1295 depicting mourners, scenes of the Virgin Mary, the Crucifixion, and Christ surrounded by the evangelists (Gutiérrez et al., 2010). The chapel also housed the funerary monument of Don Sancho Saiz Carrillo, which is currently preserved at the Cincinnati Art Museum (United States).
