Joaquín Cabrejo y Moreno was an antiquarian from Seville who set up his shop in Madrid, initially at 31 Calle del Prado and later at 7 Plaza de las Cortes. His wife, Antonia, played an active role in the business: she purchased train tickets for her husband to enable him to find new pieces and took charge of paying for them. According to Marès's memoirs (2000), Cabrejo was "knowledgeable and discerning about fine antiques, but in matters of shop business, his wife was one step ahead of him."
