Description

John Dunn Gardner (1811–1903) was a member of the Conservative Party in the British Parliament. He inherited the estates of his mother, Sarah Dunn-Gardner, who had married George Townshend, 3rd Marquess of Townshend. This is how he became one of the largest landowners in Cambridgeshire (England). In 1854, he auctioned off part of his collection at Christie, Manson & Woods in London.
