Description

The Carnegies, Earls of Southesk, are one of Scotland's leading noble families. The earldom was created in 1633, and although the family experienced some political upheavals in the 18th century, they regained their standing throughout the 19th century and established their residence at Kinnaird Castle (Scotland). In addition to playing an important political and military role in the country, the Carnegies were avid collectors, amassing a large collection of portraits, suits of armor, and family documents.
