The term "Master of Covarrubias" refers to the individual responsible for the Epiphany Altarpiece located in the Collegiate Church of Covarrubias (Burgos). Initially, it was believed that the work had been executed by Gil de Siloé, Diego de la Cruz, or Diego Copín de Holanda (Huidobro, 1911; Post, 1947; Subiñas Rodrigo, 1968; Gómez Oña, 1989). However, Hernández Redondo (2001) argued that the author was the Master of Covarrubias, whose style is characterised by "an impression of solemnity it conveys."
