Description

The Catholic Monarchs decided to build a chapel in the Cathedral of Granada to serve as their burial place, choosing this site because of the symbolic significance the city held during their reign. The chapel was located at the end of the transept and dedicated to Saints John. Its construction took place between 1505 and 1517 and involved Enrique Egas, Juan Gil de Hontañón, and Lorenzo Vázquez de Segovia, among others. Inside are the tombs of the Catholic Monarchs and those of Juana I of Castile and Philip the Handsome.
