The Designmuseum was founded in 1890 by the Confederation of Danish Industries in Copenhagen and the Ny Carlsberg Museumslegat. Initially, it opened its doors in 1895 on H.C. Andersen Boulevard. However, in 1926, the museum was moved to its current location at Bredgade 68, a building that had previously been a factory.
