Description

Hildburgh (1876–1955) was born in New York. He was a scientist, figure skater, and art collector. He was primarily interested in collecting amulets and silverware. He undertook numerous trips throughout Europe and Asia, which allowed him to acquire vast quantities of artifacts. He donated more than 5,000 pieces to the Victoria & Albert Museum (London), as well as to the Ashmolean Museum (Oxford) and the Metropolitan Museum (New York).
