Description

Albin Chalandon (1809-1885) was a great art collector of Lyon origin. He was particularly interested in acquiring pieces from the Middle Ages (Garmier, 1980). After his death, his collection passed to his children, who also inherited his taste for art. Some of his works are currently dispersed in different museums, such as the Louvre Museum. Subsequently, his son Georges Chalandon also began to collect works of art (Migeon, 1905), the highlight being The Mass of St. Gregory, now in the Philadelphia Museum of Art.
