Coll & Cortés

Madrid (Spain)

Description

Jorge Coll (1977) and Nicolás Cortés (1971) founded the Coll & Cortés art gallery in 2005. From the outset, the firm specialised in Old Master painting and sculpture. In 2012 they expanded their international projection by opening an office in London. This expansion allowed the gallery to strengthen its presence in the British market (García Vega, 2017). The fundamental milestone in the history of Coll & Cortés occurred in 2015, when it merged with the Colnaghi art gallery, founded in 1760 by Giovanni Battista Torre in Paris, moving seven years later to London. Following the merger, Jorge Coll was appointed CEO of Colnaghi and established the gallery's headquarters in St. James's (London) an area renowned for its tradition in the art trade. Despite this merger, the Madrid gallery continues to operate under the name Coll & Cortés (Rodriguez, 2015). Throughout its trajectory, Coll & Cortés has worked with more than 40 internationally renowned museums, such as the Prado Museum (Madrid), the Louvre Museum (Paris) and the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York).
