The church of San Andrés, located in the town of Añastro, in the county of Treviño (Burgos), was mentioned by Pascual Madoz in 1846, who drew attention to its altars, especially the one in the main chapel, dedicated to the titular saint:
'...there is a beautiful parr. church with a single nave, supported in the middle by a solid arch, except for the presbytery and old choir, which are two small naves separated from the main nave: all its interior and exterior walls are of ashlar stone, as are its vaults: it has 5 beautiful altars, of which the largest is dedicated to Saint Andrew the Apostle, who is its patron saint and titular saint' (Madoz, 1846, p. 353).
The altarpiece is currently dismembered and its panels are preserved in various national and international institutions.
