Description

The Church of San Vicente Mártir (Frías, Burgos) was built in the 13th century. It featured a square tower with battlements and an ornate portico. However, in 1836 the portico collapsed, and in 1904 the tower collapsed, causing damage to the naves. In the early 20th century, the church’sfaçade was sold to an antique dealer, likely Émile Pares (Martínez Ruiz, 2008). Today, the façade is on display at The Cloisters, part of the Metropolitan Museum of Art (New York, United States).
