Description

Jonathan James Graham Alexander (born 1935) is one of the foremost experts on illuminated manuscripts. Professor at New York University. Institute of Fine Arts; honorary member of the Pierpont Morgan Library and institutions such as the British Academy and the Medieval Academy of America, among others. His research has focused on the study of Medieval and Renaissance illuminated manuscripts. His publications include Italian Renaissance Illuminations, New York, Braziller, 1977; The decorated letter, New York: Braziller, 1978; Medieval Illluminators and their methods of work, New Haven, Yale University Press, 1994;The Painted Page; Italian Renaissance Book Illumination, 1450-1550(ed.), New York, Preste, 1994, among many others.
