The Monastery of San Pedro de Eslonza was founded in 912 by García I of León, however, in 988 it was destroyed as a consequence of the incursions of Almanzor.Later, in 1099, the Infanta Urraca of Zamora promoted its reconstruction and linked it to the Benedictine order.The monastery underwent a profound architectural transformation during the Modern Age with the construction of a new church and cloister. Finally, following the disentailment of 1835, the monastery was abandoned.
