Evelyn Borchard Metzger (1911-2007) was born in New York. Her father, Samuel Borchard, was a great art collector, a passion that Evelyn inherited. She studied at the Art Students League and was a painter. She donated numerous works of art to various museums and institutions: to the Memphis Brooks Museum of Art a beaded necklace with a scarab; to the Williams College Museum of Art four works of art: St. Michaeland St. Bartholomew, of Spanish provenance; a painting by Pieter Wouwerman and another by Isack Van Ostade; to the Brooklyn Museum an armchair.
