There is little biographical information about Sigismund Bardac (1856-1919), a collector based in Paris at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. Among the pieces that populated his collection were medieval ivories, liturgical pieces, candelabra, bronze staffs and jewelry from al-Andalus (Gonzàles, 1985). Bardac sold part of his collection to other institutions such as the Louvre Museum (Paris) or The Walters Art Museum (Baltimore).
