© Morgan Library, New York. This manuscript belonged to Luis Escobet y Cots.
Description

Luis Escobet y Cots (ca. 1888–1948) was a bibliophile and manuscript collector based in Barcelona, Spain. Together with eleven other bibliophiles, he formed a group called “Els XII,” whose purpose was to study each other’s collections. In addition to Escobet y Cots, other members included Ángeles Perpiñá, Domingo de Guzmán Carles-Tolrá, and Epifanio de Fortuny. Among the manuscripts he owned, the Llibre de les costums de l’insigne ciudat de Tortosa, the Crónica Troyana, and the Tragicomedia de la Celestina stand out. The manuscripts that were part of his collection were marked with his heraldic ex libris, which has made it possible to trace them.
