Description

Walter Bornheim (1888–1971) founded the Bornheims Kupferstichkabinett printing house in Cologne, Germany, in 1920. He later moved to Munich and left his sister in charge of the business. In 1936, he co-directed the A. S. Drey gallery with Alexander Spengler, renaming it Galerie für Alte Kunst. It was located at 13 Briennerstrasse in Munich. Bornheim collaborated with the Nazis by acquiring works of art for them. One of his clients was Hermann Göring (Yeide, 2009). He continued to run the business until the 1960s under the name W. Bornheim. Galerie für Alte Kunst.
