Description

Charles J. Rosenbloom (1898–1973) was the son of Sol and Celia Rosembloom, who had emigrated to Pittsburgh from Germany. Charles studied law in the United States and founded the Rosembloom Finance Corporation. In the 1940s, he supported the State of Israel and took on the task of financing weapons for the Zionist cause. He and his wife, Lucile Johnson Rosembloom, were avid art collectors. In addition, Charles served on the board of trustees of Carnegie Mellon University until 1973. He donated numerous items to the institution, including his collection of manuscripts and rare books (Hunt, 1977).
