The Carnegie Museum of Art traces its origins to 1895, when Scottish steel magnate Andrew Carnegie founded the Carnegie Institute, now known as the Carnegie Museums of Pittsburgh. It consists of the Carnegie Museum of Art, the Carnegie Museum of Natural History, the Kamin Science Center, and The Andy Warhol Museum. Between the 1960s and 1970s, the museum undertook a major campaign to expand its collections.
