National Museum of San Carlos

Ciudad de México (Mexico)

Description

The National Museum of San Carlos has its origin in the art gallery of the Old Academy of San Carlos, an institution founded by Charles III. The building was constructed between 1789-1805 by Manuel Tolsá, who had been commissioned by the Marquise María Josefa Rodríguez de Pinillos y Gómez de Bárcena. Although it had different functions, at the end of 1960 it was decided to install a museum. Among the works from Castilla y León housed in the institution is the Adoration of the Magiby Pedro Berruguete.
