The church of Santiago, located in Valle del Silencio (León), was built in the 10th century by order of the monk Genadio de Astorga, who is buried there. Although the building has undergone restorations in the 20th century, the horseshoe arches have been preserved, which reflect the Mozarabic style with North African and Caliphal influences. Also, the interior decoration with early medieval paintings of geometric and vegetal motifs of caliphal inspiration stands out (Escudero, García and León, 2004).
