Description

Louis Carrand (1827-1888) was born in Lyon. His father, Jean-Baptiste Carrand, had a great passion for medieval objects and even acquired some of them. Following in his father's footsteps, Louis continued the tradition and became a great collector of Italian medieval art. Coinciding with the Donatello exhibition, Carrand exhibited in the Museo Nazionale del Bargello (Florence) some pieces from his collection. In 1888 Carrand donated his collection to the museum.
