Description

Martin Heckscher (1838?-1897) came from a wealthy family. Although he was the director of an insurance company with offices in London, Berlin and St. Petersburg, his real passion was art. Throughout his life he acquired numerous medieval and Renaissance pieces. After his death his collection was auctioned at Christie's London branch in 1898.
