Description

Léonce Rosenberg (1879-1947) was born in Neuilly-sur-Seine. His father was an art dealer and he wanted to follow in his footsteps. Thus it was that in 1910 he opened a gallery at 19 rue de la Baume (Paris). Initially Rosenberg was dedicated to the sale of antiques, however, his taste changed, which made him opt for avant-garde works, mainly cubist. In 1918 he changed the name of his gallery to Galerie de l'Effort Moderne (Atencia, 2020), where he held numerous exhibitions focusing on Cubism (Stark, 2016). In addition to acting as an art dealer, Léonce was a great collector.
