Description

Julien Chappée (1862-1957) was born in Le Mans (France). His father, Armand Chappée, was an important businessman in the iron industry. However, Julien did not want to follow in his footsteps and focused on the art world. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants in Paris between 1927-1929. He was also a great collector and benefactor of numerous institutions. The Louvre Museum (Paris) has several pieces that belonged to his collection, such as the Reliquary of the Holy Innocents and the crozier of Jean de Chanlay.
