Description

Mariano Chicote Recio (1855–1913) came from a family of artists in Valladolid who also dealt in antiques. He created important sculptures for the city, such as *Fama*, located in Campo Grande (Valladolid). He was close friends with Agapito y Revilla, who, in his writings, thanked him for the information he provided regarding the sale of certain pieces, such as a panel from the Convent of Santa Clara in Valladolid (Agapito y Revilla, 1921). In addition to his work as a sculptor and antiquarian, Chicote collected works of art (Rodríguez, 2017), such as a bust from Peñaranda de Duero (Burgos).
