The origins of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art lie in the Los Angeles Museum of History, Science and Art, which was founded in 1910. Subsequently, in 1961 the Los Angeles County Museum of Art became an independent branch. They opened their doors in 1965 on Wilshire Boulevard and over the years they have inaugurated different pavilions, such as the Japanese art pavilion.
