Description

The Convent of Santa Clara (Astudillo, Palencia) was founded by María de Padilla around 1356. At the end of the 14th century, the single-nave church, covered by a ribbed vault, was constructed. The church choir featured a choir stall (Franco, 2010; Aguiló, 2016) that was dismantled: four stalls ended up at the National Archaeological Museum (Madrid), ten at the Detroit Institute of Arts (Detroit), while the rest were sent to the Mission of San Diego (California).
