Church of St Peter, Astudillo

Astudillo (Palencia, Spain)

Description

The origins of the Church of San Pedro (Astudillo, Palencia) date back to the 13th century and are linked to Violante of Aragon, wife of Alfonso X the Wise. The building underwent modifications in the 15th and 16th centuries due to renovations carried out inside. It features three naves separated by pillars and ribbed vaults. Notable features include the Renaissance main altarpiece, created by Hernando de Nestosa (ca. 1525–1599), and the altar frontal.
