Jean Barthélemy Darmagnac

Description

Jean Barthélemy Darmagnac was born in Toulouse in 1766. At the age of twenty-five, he enlisted as a volunteer in a battalion and fought in Italy against the Austrians. He rose to the rank of General and was part of Napoleon’s forces. He was one of those responsible (along with Armand Augustin Louis de Caulaincourt and Jean-Joseph Dessolles) for the looting carried out by both Napoleon and his brother Joseph Bonaparte in Spain (García Sánchez, 2007).
