Description

TheCleveland Museum of Art was founded in 1913 for the benefit of the entire town. Businessmen Hinman B. Hurlbut, John Huntington and Horace Kelley bequeathed large sums of money for the creation of the museum and Jeptha H. Wade II donated one of his properties in Wade Park to establish the building. Finally, the museum opened its doors to the public on June 6, 1916. The museum houses numerous pieces from Spain. In the case of Castile and Leon, two works stand out: theVirgin Enthroned with Childby Gil de Siloé and the Book of Hours of Isabella the Catholic.
